SIMON & SCHUSTER 2021

Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, will publish THE STORY OF RAEKWON by legendary wordsmith Raekwon, nicknamed “The Chef” for the rich lyrics he cooks up. Raekwon joined the Staten Island-based Wu-Tang Clan in the early ’90s and was a crucial contributor to the group’s seminal debut album Enter the Wu-Tang, especially “C.R.E.A.M,” universally considered one of the best hip-hop songs of all time. His 1995 solo debut Only Built 4 Cuban Linx immediately went platinum and has been acclaimed as one of the most important and influential hip hop albums ever recorded. In 2012 he launched his own label, ICE H2O Records. Raekwon’s memoir, written in collaboration with #1 New York Times bestselling co-author Anthony Bozza, charts his path to hip-hop godfather and exposes Wu-Tang’s early growing pains in an industry that wasn’t ready for their success.
Raekwon: “This is my story, from being a wide-eyed kid full of hopes and dreams, through hard times and sadness and so many situations I’m amazed I survived. This is all of it, the good, the bad, the ugly, the whole truth and nothing but.”
Jeremie Ruby-Strauss, Vice President and Executive Editor at Gallery Books, acquired world rights from Lisa Gallagher at DeFiore & Company and Rashida Watler of Super Femina Entertainment, with Maggie Loughran to co-edit.
THE STORY OF RAEKWON will be published in 2021.
